Mexican Herbal Tea
Nothing closes the evening off, calls the day in, or caps off a lunch break quite like a refreshing cup of tea. We have plenty to choose from here at Don Juan Chiles.   However, with so many whole herbs as well, there are many opportunities to blend herbs together for taste, health, and wellness.   Here, we will be spotlighting just one of the many ways you can mix and match herbs to create a masterpiece cup of tea.   Eucalyptus, chamomile, and lavender each bring their own unique flavors and health benefits – but together, they create a calming tea blend that is great hot, refreshing iced, and perfect for a peaceful evening.  Do you have a favorite way to mix and match our herbs and spices? thoughts before starting

Depending on your personal preference, you can add more or less of each herb to bring out whichever flavors you would like to see more of – make sure that your mix does not exceed roughly three tablespoons of herbs altogether, however.  

With herbal infusions, more is less. Adding too many different herbs reduces your ability to distinguish the tastes of each one in the mix – avoid mixing more than three herbs into one infusion at a time to get the most out of each flavor.  

what you will need

  • Mortar and Pestle 
  • Hot water heater 
  • Tea infuser  
  • Mug 
  • Strainer 


  1. Take Eucalyptus leaves and cut them into small pieces using a knife or your hands.  
  2. Cut Chamomile into small pieces, similar in size to the Eucalyptus.  
  3. Repeat this process for the dried lavender.  
  4. Take all three and add them to the mortar and pestle.  
  5. Grind them until they are more mixed but not tiny or completely ground.  
  6. Take the mixture and put it in a strainer.  
  7. Pour a small amount of hot water over the mix to get dust and debris off before your infusion.  
  8. Add the mixture to the tea infuser and put the tightly sealed infuser into a mug.  
  9. Pour hot water over the infuser and let steep for 10 to 15 minutes. 
  10. Add a cube of sugar if this is your preference 
  11. Let the tea cool off and enjoy it hot. 
  12. If tea is leftover, or if you doubled this recipe, you can put the tea in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator to enjoy it for up to 5 days after it is brewed.
