Description
From India. While they do share a licorice-like flavor, these are not to be confused with star anise. Whole anise, or aniseed, is warm, sweet and pungent, with a subtle, mild licorice flavor. Anise is widely used in European and Western baked goods, sauces, candies and liqueurs. With some whole anise and some vodka, you can make your own anise extract to flavor both homemade biscotti and a shot of espresso for quite the ‘afternoon pick-me-up.’
